Real Oviedo forward José Verdú Nicolás, "Toché", appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.

After enjoying a few days off due to the lack of a league fixture this weekend, the forward stated that “it’s been good for us. We came back with a lot of enthusiasm and our batteries recharged. We are in a good position and we are going to fight for the playoff spots. We are focusing on Córdoba and on producing a good performance. We are coming into it with ok form, and we hope to keep going. Getting into the playoffs is hard, but we are going to give everything and fight to get in them.”

Regarding the importance of having another fixture at the Carlos Tartiere, the Real Oviedo Captain stated that “at home we have to come out to win, but we also have to show respect for Córdoba. They are going to put up a fight. The points mustn’t get away from us; they are very important for us. We had a lot of hopes riding on the last few matches at home, and we’ve been frustrated with the results, but now we are going into the final stretch with fresh energy. It will be a nice end to the season and we are hoping to make our fans happy. We have 52 points and we are only thinking about Córdoba and taking it step by step. The team deserves to get in the playoffs and we are going to fight for it.”

Finally, talking about the rest of the run-in that awaits Real Oviedo, the striker concluded by saying that “all the matches are difficult, including very tough away trips. We can only think about the next match. We need to maintain the same form as before, playing our style of football and looking for chances. The team isn’t dazzling anyone, but we are capable of scoring and continuing on this path.”
