There was a presentation this Thursday in the Carlos Tartiere Press Room, where the new Real Oviedo Director of Football, Tito Blanco, appeared before the media.
Tito Blanco was accompanied by the Director of Institutional Relations, César Martín, who was in charge of welcoming him, and thanked him for “his excitement, desire, and predisposition to come to Real Oviedo. He transmits excitement and experience. We are sure that he will take the club to very high levels. He has had a long career. We wish him the best of luck.”
After the welcome, Tito Blanco wanted to “thank Real Oviedo and the media for coming. I have seen the excitement on people’s faces, it has been exciting to be able to join this project. As a work team, we can achieve ambitious goals that give us joy. My mind is only on achieving the best for Real Oviedo.”
When asked about the work that he will undertake from now until the start of the season, the new Director of Football pointed out, “when we talk about a Real Oviedo with 16 players under contract and a great performance (last season), a few small changes and improvements will be needed, but the work that they have already done must be taken into account. You must take that and use it to your advantage if possible. I want to have a way of working that allows for efficiency. The content of different sports management teams is different, but you have to have your own operation. I want to know how Real Oviedo’s sports management has worked and see if I can incorporate my methodology with its tools. I am an open person, I am not closed to anything. I want to do my best for Real Oviedo. I’m going to meet the people from the technical secretarial department. I would like to have people who have worked with me before. There are people who work at the club who will help me and help me to understand things but bringing in some others will make us better."
Regarding the coaching profile he is looking to have to lead Real Oviedo, Tito Blanco acknowledged that “I don’t have a set profile, I want a competitive coach who can handle different systems. A coach who has the experience to find solutions for the competition. The moment we leave this room we will be up and running. I would like to have the full conviction that the coach we sign will generate enthusiasm in me and that it will be a unique opportunity for him. The sooner the better. I want to know his opinion when building the squad.”
When asked about the signings that he will try to make to strengthen the squad, the Director of Football reasoned that “I don’t know if there is an order when making signings. You must look at the positions and analyse them. An analysis of the footballers that will be convinced to come to Real Oviedo must be carried out, but those footballers must perform at their best for the club. I would like to sign players on permanent deals. If there are loan transfers, the club must always have the possibility that, in the end, the players could stay.”
Finally, facing the objective that he has set for himself as head of the Real Oviedo sports management, Tito Blanco affirmed that “we have to have a good preseason to win the first game on 14th August. I’m not going to set any specific goal, I don’t want to burden myself with any unnecessary pressure. The club is ambitious, as am I and the people I have met so far. My goal is to do things well to try to win every game. My goal is to complement the squad, before choosing a coach and helping the team to prepare well every weekend. A football club has to have a common objective, but day by day it is work. They have given me the opportunity to be a part of a great club and live the sports management that generates positive things.”
