Real Oviedo wanted to celebrate the commemorative match for the club’s 92nd anniversary a few days early by showing a mark of respect towards the club’s oldest season ticket holders.
As such, eleven of the fans to have held their season tickets for the longest periods of time were invited to participate in a simple yet moving act prior to the match. The Oviedistas, kitted out with their scarves, hats and several walking sticks, brought joy to the tunnel in the minutes before the team emerged for kick-off. The first team players, each wearing a special shirt designed for the occasion, positioned themselves next to the season ticket holder whose name was featured on their shirt, in a further demonstration of affection towards the veteran Oviedistas.
The first team players and season ticket holders walked out onto the pitch together. Having received affectionate applause from the Carlos Tartiere, they all came together to pose for the pre-match photo. Each fan took the shirt of the player that had accompanied them, with their name and the number of the season ticket they are proud to hold this season emblazoned on it.
The club wishes to thank all participants for their loyalty and love for our colours, and for their willingness to take part in such a heart-warming act. It is an honour and a source of pride for our club.
