Saturday morning saw Real Oviedo and San Martín go head to head at El Requexón, with the hosts falling to defeat.
Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of B. Hórreo; Pablo Menéndez, Javi Moreno, René, Osky; David Iglesias, Mangel, Álex Cardero, Yayo, Chus and Conceiçao out on Pitch 1. The team was up against a very physical San Martín side who did not make things easy for Vetusta.
The first half saw a lot of contact and both teams dominate spells. Real Oviedo Vetusta managed to deal with all of the away side's attacks, but were lacking the final ball which would have seen them threaten going forwards. The goal for Los Azules would come from a set piece, with David Iglesias' fine effort getting the better of the goalkeeper. The final minutes of the first half would see San Martín equalise, as they made the most of some misfortune from Berto playing the ball out. The keeper would bounce back to make two important saves. The teams went in for halftime with the scores level.
The opening stages of the second half would see San Martín score a penalty, which then broke up the rhythm of the encounter, as Real Oviedo Vetusta were forced to look to come from behind. David Iglesias and Lucas Laso had chances, but were unable to convert. Eloy Ordóñez had to leave the field injured, which meant the side went down to ten men, having used all its substitutions. Lucas Laso, Eloy Ordóñez, Pedregal, Isaac, and Viti were the substitutes used.
This defeat brought an end to Real Oviedo Vetusta's fine run of form. The B team will visit Urraca on Tuesday.
