Following the events which occurred around Saturday's match against Real Sporting de Gijón, Real Oviedo states:
- Our support and unconditional backing to our fans, led by APARO (Association of Supporters' Clubs), who have always behaved in an exemplary manner and have been recognised by fanbases throughout Spanish football. We therefore support everything said this morning by the Association of Real Oviedo Supporters' Clubs in their official statement.
- We celebrate the behaviour of our fans, which was once again exemplary, and which created a spectacular, healthy, and fair atmosphere during Saturday's match at the Carlos Tartiere stadium. Not a single incident was registered.
- The good faith shown by our club in relocating all Sporting de Gijón fans who attended the match wearing their club's clothing, after having purchased tickets at the Carlos Tartiere ticket booths in the days leading up to the fixture. In accordance to the rules in place, the club could have opted to deny them access to the ground, given that the tickets were not purchased from the away club. Furthermore, the fans did not travel to the game following the security measures enforced by the Government Delegation, as the rules for high-risk matches state that they must. However, all fans were able to enter the stadium, and not a single incident was registered at the Carlos Tartiere.
- We issue a reminder that not a single one of the high-risk matches played in the capital of Asturias in recent years has seen any incident take place. Oviedistas have shown exemplary behaviour ahead of all of the derbies, focusing entirely on supporting and backing their players and their team. They have also shown great responsibility during times of Covid, while still refusing to stop being at the side of their team, whenever the rules have allowed them to do so.
- We condemn any type of situation and unpleasant, abusive, and/or violent behaviour which took place in the hours ahead of the match. The incidents were all outside the Carlos Tartiere stadium and do not represent Oviedistas. The club states its complete rejection and condemnation of any kind of violent behaviour, and would like to wish a swift recovery to any police or fans injured.
Finally, we place on record our complete rejection of the manipulative and subjective focuses applied in the information produced by certain media outlets. These productions have affected our club and criminalised a fanbase which has always been at the service of and collaborated fully with the State's Security Forces. Our fans have worked continuously to allow matches like this one to take place in an exemplary fashion, as they have demonstrated on countless occasions.
Hala Oviedo and thank you, Oviedistas.
