Real Oviedo Vetusta played the eighth league game of the season today in La Corredoria against Urraca. The B team triumphed 2-1.
The demanding fixture schedule with three matches in less than seven days forced Jaime Álvarez to make changes to his starting eleven as he looked to freshen the side up. He opted for a line-up of Berto Hórreo; Viti, Lucas Laso, René, Javi Moreno, Pablo Menéndez; Yayo, Joselu Isaac, Alex Cardero and Álvaro Pedregal.
The first half saw Los Azules dominate the play and have the better chances, taking the lead just minutes into the game. Javi Moreno swung a cross into the box and Álvaro Pedregal turned it into the back of the net. The second goal for Los Azules was provided by Alex Cardero, who made the most of a defensive mistake to fire home a fine strike from the edge of the area. Real Oviedo Vetusta went in for halftime with a 2-0 away lead.
Urraca cut the deficit after the interval, making the score 2-1, and the match developed into a phase with a very high tempo as the hosts went in search of an equaliser. Los Azules also had opportunities to extend the lead. David Iglesias, Merayo, Osky, Chus and Iván Conceiçao were the substitutes used by Jaime Álvarez.
This was an important victory at a tough ground which allowed Vetusta to get back to winning ways. The team will now begin to prepare for Sunday's fixture against Gijón Industrial.
