The best backdrop and protagonists possible, and seven conversations condensed into 95 seconds each. Just two sofas in the centre circle at the Carlos Tartiere, two people face-to-face, discussing football and life, in what was another of the acts carried out to mark Real Oviedo's 95th Anniversary, which will be celebrated on Friday 26th March.
A total of fourteen people took part in this event, ranging from club season-ticket holder number 1 Luis Álvarez to youth-team player Javi Cueto. The fabulous setting was provided by EquipAvilés, who allowed us to create magic in the middle of the NMR Carlos Tartiere pitch.
Each of the chats, none of which were scripted, were just as natural as their protagonists. Our Head Coach José Ángel Ziganda was moved by the Beni Meleiro's story of her unconditional loyalty to her beloved club, which she also shared with the love of her life. Manuel Paredes shared memories with season-ticket holder number 3, Jesús Cabal, who took to our stage on the day he turned 92 years of age. Marco Sangalli, a neighbour of season-ticket holder number 1 Luis Álvarez, listened to how football has changed during Luis' 92 years following Real Oviedo, as our fan admitted that he had suffered more than he enjoyed it! There was a meeting of goal scorers as Carlos Muñoz gave tips to our youth-team player Javi Cueto. Two stars of the promotion in Cádiz, Dani Bautista and Borja Valle, recalled the day before that historic 31st May, when Arturo Elías decided to relieve the tension by having a knockabout with the players. Real Oviedo Femenino captain Laurina and Jimmy reflected on how hard it had been for them to get to where they are today, and how privileged they are. Meanwhile Carlos Tartiere, the grandson of our historic Club President, and the CEO of Grupo Tartiere José María Salazar talked about the importance of memories and hopes for the future.
The recording was made with all safety measures following Covid 19 protocol, in collaboration with EquipAvilés, and we are grateful for the generosity of all of our participants. These were seven historic conversations, and seven conversations condensed in 95 seconds full of life.
