Real Oviedo winger Marco Sangalli today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, in the latest day of preseason training.
The wide player began by analysing the arrival of Jirka, saying that "he's a good player, he showed that at Mirandés. Any player coming in here and contributing and being good enough is a good thing for the team. The most important thing is for Real Oviedo to have the best players. I would be delighted if the team got promoted and I didn't play. The team is the main thing. I welcome him and hope he can contribute as much as possible."
Asked about the approaching start of the new season and the need to sign new players, Sangalli argued that "I'm not worried about it, it's not up to the players. The sports management staff is doing its job and the sooner they arrive, the better, so that we can get used to playing together. I'm looking forward to meeting our new teammates, but I trust in the ability of the players we have here." In addition, regarding the new summer transfer policy, the winger commented that "I'm a fan of maintaining the core of the squad, but it's something that's up to the club. They have decided to do it this way, and the important thing is for the new players to come here and fit in, so that it doesn't cost us at the start of the season."
With respect to Riki's role in the team, Sangalli believes that "he has some special qualities. It's difficult to find players like him. I like him as a player. He's training well, but everyone has to make their own decisions. He is going to get his opportunity."
Discussing whether he would become one of the team's captains this season, giving that he is now one of the club's longest-serving players, the winger stated that "it's too soon for that discussion. We're a small group and more players are going to come in. We will decide in the future. The important thing is for the group to be strong and united. That's how we can achieve great things. Every single one of us in the changing room is important. What each of us contributes is what adds to the team. The responsibility is what it is."
Finally, talking about preseason, Sangalli highlighted that "I'm going into it with great excitement. You begin each preseason with the desire to do something nice, but the main reason for excitement is the fans coming back. That will be a reason for great happiness. It is going to be exciting to play in front of a full Tartiere."
