The Press Room at El Requexón today played host to the presentation of the award for August’s ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month to Marco Sangalli. The winger was one of the standout players for the side in the opening LaLiga matches, with his good form and teamwork catching the eye. Marco Sangalli was voted for by fans of Los Azules, who chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou. The award was presented by Diego Arias of Varyarte, on behalf of Mahou.

After receiving the award, the winger analysed the team’s form in recent games, admitting that “we are hurting but looking forward to Sunday’s match. We want to get off the bottom and we can’t stop thinking about this fixture. People are hurting, but we have to work, clear our heads and get the three points no matter what. Four matches have got away from us now and we have to start winning. Winning is the only way, and we can’t let it slip away. I hope all the fans come to what is their home and help us. We want to make them happy. It’s true that we haven’t been responding, but the way to move past this is to do so together with our fans.”

Asked about his positional preferences, Marco reasoned that “it’s not up to me, it’s up to the Coach. It’s not about where I play, but about what I contribute. If each of us is at our best then it will be better for the team.”

With respect to the psychological work that the squad has been doing since the start of the season, the winger highlighted that “it’s something the club does, but it’s common. Anybody who is here to help us is a positive. It will help us.”

Finally, regarding his views on the team, Sangalli commented that “we’ve competed in all of the matches and should have got more points, but they’ve got away from us at the end each time. It’s about improving things with hard work. You learn from experiences. When we win a match and see ourselves as winners then things will change.”
