Marco Sangalli today collected the Alsa Autobuses trophy, which is presented to the player to have covered the highest number of kilometres during the previous season. The Basque winger, who covered 358,366 metres during his 39 matches in the 19/20 season, received the award from representatives for the Asturian coach company. He thanked the rest of his teammates for the award, saying that "if there's one thing which characterises this team then it's the number of kilometres that we cover in each match. I've won this prize, but it could have gone to any of my teammates."
Asked how he's feeling during the online press conference, Sangalli explained that "I came into the team during the first week of the season, but I had barely done any preseason, and they have been an odd few weeks. I am happy with anything I can do to help, such as the goal for the point in Miranda. We are now focused on the weekend and on the match, because it's very important."
With respect to his experience of the illness, having overcome Covid 19, the winger explained that "I took it as normally and as naturally as possible. As soon as I was well I was hungry to get back into training. I had to train on the sidelines a bit, but now I'm hungry to contribute as normal."
Following Ortuño's comments, where he highlighted him as a key player in the outcome of Saturday's match in Albacete, Sangalli praised the forward "both as a player and on a personal level. While there are no friends during the match, I will always have a good memory of his time here."
Regarding the state of a squad which is yet to obtain a victory this season, Sangalli said that "the idea is to keep going as in the final twelve matches of last season, where the team was very solid. The team is doing well and working well, and I'm sure we have less points than we deserve. Every match is very difficult in this division and playing away at Albacete will be the same. It will be hard for us, but we have to believe in the work the team is doing and we hope to get the three points there like we did last season."
Finally, asked about the team's lack of goals, Sangalli explained that "the important thing isn't that one player or another scores, but rather that the team creates chances, so that the goals can arrive. I think we are doing that."
