The Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere today hosted the presentation of the twenty-sixth edition of the Real Oviedo Summer Camp, which will put the spotlight on the club from the capital of Asturias and allow more than 2,000 children to wear the blue jersey, all around the world.
Director of the Real Oviedo Foundation and the Club's Head of Institutional Relations, César Martín, Head of Escuela Real Oviedo, Pablo Valcárcel, and first-team midfielder, Javi Mier, appeared before the media as the summer activity was unveiled today.
César Martín began by thanking the Press that was gathered for the occasion and by highlighting the exponential growth that the Real Oviedo Summer Camp will undergo with this latest edition. “We are continuing with our expansion through Asturias, with a new location, and we will expand still further with camps outside of Spain.” The Director of the Foundation also mentioned that he valued the presence of Javi Mier at the event, who “exemplifies the methodology of the Academy and the Escuela. We are proud that he represents us. He is an example to those that come after him. He participated in several editions of the summer camps. We are proud of it; he reflects the dream of many children.”
Pablo Valcarcél then described his feelings regarding the activity, saying that “it is a pleasure to present a new edition. The idea is to bring continuity to last year’s project and to spread Oviedismo throughout Asturias, following the working methodology of Real Oviedo. We are continuing to grow with new international bases.”
Real Oviedo is strengthening its presence in Asturias, with a new base in Valdés, while also opening up to new markets on an international level, with summer camps in Canada, Panama, Oman, Venezuela, and the USA.  For the Head of the Real Oviedo School, it is important for “the expansion of the brand to have a project for the future. We are expecting great success in terms of enrolment.”
Undoubtedly, one of the main new features of the Real Oviedo Summer Camp will be the Functional Diversity Soccer School, which “will take place from 18th to 29th July, with the support of Real Oviedo Genuine coaches and players. It is a commitment made to the community.” This particular activity will take the form of a day camp at the Tensi facilities.
Finally, Javi Mier began by referring to the words of César Martín, in which the Director had highlighted that the Carbayón midfielder was a reference point for the little ones: “I don’t consider myself a benchmark, I still have a long way to go, but it is true that when you are that age the boys look up to the first team.”
Discussing the first team, Javi Mier highlighted that “we are confident going into what remains, but we are only thinking about Monday. We must get the three points and when this is all over, then we will see where we are. We are focused on preparing for Zaragoza and then moving on to the next one,” he stated.
