LaLiga football returned to the Carlos Tartiere today, with Real Oviedo back in action in a competitive match at the NMR Carlos Tartiere.  Los Azules were up against newly-promoted Cartagena.  The match ended in a goalless draw and the two teams sharing the points.
The Asturians emerged for the first match of the season with a starting eleven made up of Femenías, Juanjo Nieto, Grippo, Arribas, Mossa; Viti, Edgar, Tejera, Borja Sánchez; Samuel Obeng and Javi Mier.  The side made its intentions clear right from the outset, playing at a high tempo, pressing high and looking for the forward players to combine.  Arribas had two consecutive chances in the early stages, but he was denied first by the keeper and then by the post.  Borja Sánchez also struck the post, while Edgar, Grippo and Viti all had chances to open the scoring.  Real Oviedo was strong in defence, with Femenías barely threatened, but the teams went in for halftime with the score 0-0.
The match followed a very similar pattern after the break.  Javi Mier had the best chance of the match after a fine Juanjo Nieto run down the wing, but the local lad grazed the post with his strike.  Ziganda turned to his bench and brought on Sangalli and Mujica in place of Viti and Javi Mier, before later swapping Lucas on for Mossa.  The match became somewhat scrappy, with Cartagena slowing the match down a lot.  Cedric and Riki also came on for the final stages.
Real Oviedo had to share the points from the first game of the season.  The Asturians will travel to face Mirandés next weekend.
