Real Oviedo fell to a painful defeat at Riazor in front of one of the biggest away crowds of the season.

The team saw several changes to the starting eleven from the previous match, with Alanís and Christian replacing Javi Hernández and Mossa, while Javi Muñoz came into the midfield. They started the match well and
dominated the early stages. The first clear opportunity also fell to the Asturians. A triple chance saw first Joselu’s, and then two more efforts denied by the keeper and defenders. Bárcenas hit a free kick, which was also kept out by the home goalkeeper. The first goal came from Deportivo’s first corner, with Domingo Duarte heading home. Real Oviedo continued to dominate the game up until halftime, but without creating too many chances.

Joselu had Real Oviedo’s best chance of the second half. His header from a free kick grazed the far post. Bárcenas then tried his luck from the edge of the box, but the home keeper denied him. Dépor added their second soon afterwards, with Quique scoring on the counter. Real Oviedo failed to recover from this blow. Carlos Fernández added a third, before Quique notched again to score the fourth. Not even the substitutions provoked a reaction from the away side, who bore the anger of their fans at the end of
the game.

The next training session will be at 18:00 on Monday at El Requexón.
