Real Oviedo striker Alfredo Ortuño appeared in the Press Room this morning after the team's training session at El Requexón. Having scored the winning goal from the penalty spot, the forward declared his happiness at the team having claimed a victory that "we needed.  A lot of Rayo's players were playing in the first division last season, which says a lot about the opponent.  We have to realise what can be achieved by defending an idea to the death."
The goal scorer analysed yesterday's clash, saying that "the team took a step forward.  We went after the match and stopped Rayo from creating.  We battled for the victory and were strong defensively.  They didn't threaten us.  All of us feel today that we have demonstrated that we are a team, that we fight for the full ninety minutes, and that we know how to bounce back.  We wanted to win the match."
Regarding the awarding of the penalty, Ortuño was honest and said that "I was shocked at the ref initially bringing out a yellow card for Juanjon Nieto."  He also highlighted the work and performance of Arribas, who recovered fantastically after making an error.  "We are all going to make mistakes here; if not we wouldn't be footballers or humans.  We were doing well yesterday and the mistake hit us twice as badly, but I think that Arribas had an outstanding game."
With respect to the difference between the team's performance in Las Palmas and yesterday, the striker commented that "we were like two different teams.  We have to hold on to this idea, win matches and earn three points at a time.  We have a lot at stake and have to concentrate, be responsible and be aware of the club that we represent.  This month the team had forgotten that the important thing is what we have inside.  We have to keep going and fight for three points each weekend."
