Real Oviedo defender Christian Fernández today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Following last weekend's triumph over Rayo Vallecano and the subsequent difference in this week's training, the Cantabrian commented "that's football.  You live off your last result.  We moved out of the relegation places, but the reality is what it is.  We are still in a long, hard fight, but one where if we are united we will celebrate survival.  What's left is hard work and suffering.  We are aware of it."
Asked whether the changes at the club had affected the team's performance, Christian reasoned that "there's no reason for it to have repercussions; it's about individual perceptions.  It's part of football and doesn't take time.  We have to do our talking on the pitch.  That's where we have to do it.  We would like stability, like we had when Michu and Joaquín (Del Olmo) were here, but that's not up to us.  The club is aware of that need.  The transfer window is coming and the sooner the replacement arrives, the greater margin for work they will have.  It doesn't affect us directly. The only important thing is to train and compete.  The decisions made will have been analysed."
Regarding Alcorcón, and Real Oviedo's poor record at the Santo Domingo, the Carbayón captain said that, "I've not won there in my life!  It's a ground that Real Oviedo doesn't play well at, but it's a good time to change our record there.  It's about competing, knowing that it's just another ground and we have to show our need to win at Alcorcón."
Finally, with respect to whether he prefers to play at centre back or full back, Christian highlighted that "I'll play wherever they put me.  I'm a club man and I will give 100% wherever they use me.  Being able to play several positions in defence is a good thing, and at the end of the day I'm comfortable playing every Sunday.  I feel good and hope to keep contributing."
