Real Oviedo has today terminated the contract of the club’s Head of Security, José Ramón Álvarez Sala. This is due to events in the past few hours, which saw the the removal of the murals created by Grupo Symmachiarii, which were at the gates at the entrance to the Fondo Norte stand of the Carlos Tartiere stadium.
The club has been in communication with the Fondo Norte at all times, and both parties have been aware of the possibility of having to work together on maintaining, modifying or even eliminating some of the symbols found in said area. It was constantly in contact with the people responsable for its creation. Despite the aforementioned possibility, and without the said situation having been reached, the events which unfolded in the past few hours were not a response to any instruction given by the club or to any legal request. For this motive, the club is taking the decision to bring an end to the employment of José Ramón Álvarez Sala.
Real Oviedo deeply regrets what has happened and the emotional damage caused by the elimination of many of the symbols, which represent a crucial part of the history of our fans and of our club.
