The Press Room of the NMR Carlos Tartiere this morning hosted the presentation of the agreement between Real Oviedo and the mining company, as the latter become the club's main sponsor for the 2020/21 season.
Manolo Paredes, Acting Real Oviedo Club President, and Alfredo Navarrete, Head of Sports Events at NMR, headed up the presentation.  The act began with the presentation of a training shirt for the current season, with the mining company's logo featuring on the front.  Manolo Paredes then began to speak, giving "our most heartfelt thanks to them for investing in sport and in Real Oviedo.  NMR is a company linked to mining, which is a very important sector in our region.  Thank you for being here with us, and hopefully you can be with us for a long time."
Alfredo Navarrete meanwhile wanted to "underline my personal satisfaction at forming part of Real Oviedo and with the commitment made by the company I represent in becoming linked to this club.  We want to become a reference point in mining and help with re-industrialisation.  With this deal, we are renewing the commitment of the traditional Asturian company with Los Azules, just as the Tartiere company did before."
Manolo Paredes and Alfredo Navarrete then moved on to answer the questions put to them by the media:
What is the company expecting from this commercial deal?
AN: It's a sponsorship deal of the highest level and can help the team with its sports strategy.  This agreement is extendable and we are satisfied with the welcome it has received, while respecting those opinions which don't agree.  Our objective is to contribute a financial nudge to help the club get to highest of heights.
Why is the deal only for one year when naming-rights deals are usually for a longer period of time?
AN: We don't want it to be a commercial deal, but rather a sports one, to help a team with huge tradition.
What does a deal like this one mean to the club, in light of the general world crisis that we are currently going through?
MP: Everyone knows that we are all going through special circumstances in all areas of life, and sport is not a case apart.  This sponsorship is very important for Real Oviedo, particularly at the current time.
Was it a difficult decision to change the name of the stadium?
MP: We made the decision having weighed up the pros and cons.  It was made with full respect to the family and the memory of Carlos Tartiere.
Do you think the fans will take it well?
MP: Oviedo is an active club and the fans can express their opinion.  We respect all opinions, but hope that they support us, given that this is a good deal for Real Oviedo.
How much does it improve the club's salary limit?
MP: This sponsorship deal alone covers the club's sponsorship budget for the year, or even exceeds it.  That's why signing a deal like this one is so important.
Will the company's name be added to front of the Tartiere stadium?
MP: The company's name will be on the front of the building, next to the Carlos Tartiere name.
