Today saw another presentation at the Carlos Tartiere, following the arrival of Dani Calvo. The defender appeared before the media in the Press Room, and was joined by the club's Head of Institutional Relations César Martín.
César Martín began the press conference by saying that "I'd like to welcome him and thank him for his willingness to join the club. We are convinced that he is going to be a very important player for the club's immediate future. He was a target for the Sports Management Department right from the start of the window, and it's great that the player has decided to choose our proposal. We are sure that he is going to contribute a lot to the team in the coming seasons."
Dani Calvo explained that "the signing has been a long time coming, but ever since my agent put the offer to me I took this option very seriously. It's a very attractive project. They have shown huge interest and pushed hard for me, and that has been what has made me choose Real Oviedo."
Regarding his own choice to drop down a division from the First Division, which he had reached with Elche, the defender explained that "I don't see it like that. I'm coming here to join a very interesting project and with a lot of hunger to grow. I believe that I can improve a lot as a footballer and as a person here, and we are in the same boat in that regard."
With respect to competition in the centre of defence, the player was clear that "I'm coming here to compete, to give it my all, to be a good teammate, and to put in a good season, as we look to meet our objectives."
Finally, regarding what it is like to play at the Tartiere, Dani Calvo wants the ground "to be a fortress. I've seen it can be as an away player." Hungry to join up with the squad now, the player said he is "ready to work with the fitness coaches" in order to join in as soon as possible.
