The third preseason friendly of the summer saw Los Azules travel to León to face Cultural Leonesa at the Área Deportiva de Puente Castro. The Asturians fell to defeat, although the side did build up further minutes and workload as the fourth week of preseason continues.
The Real Oviedo Head Coach opted for a starting eleven made up of Femenías; Lucas, Grippo, Bolaño, Mossa; Sangalli, Jimmy, Alex Cardero; Jirka, Obeng and Borja Sánchez. He once again used the 4-3-3 formation which has become the norm this summer.
The first half saw the home side take the lead through a fine goal, but then Real Oviedo began to dominate the play and the chances. The wide men were very active and made the most of overlaps to create the early opportunities. Cultural made the score 1-0 with a fine strike from outside the box, which left Joan Femenías helpless. After the goal, Real Oviedo stepped up a gear and looked to threaten the home goal. Borja Sánchez, on two occasions, Sangalli, and Obeng all looked for the equaliser, but could not make the most of their opportunities.
The start of the second half saw Ziganda bring Javi Mier on in place of Borja Sánchez. Los Azules found an equalising goal, capitalising on some fine combination play between Sangalli and Mossa, with the latter finding Obeng, who was able to convert stylishly. Cuco Ziganda then made ten changes, leaving only Javi Mier of the previous eleven players out on the field. Cultural added a second goal, before the two teams traded blows, with Real Oviedo trying relentlessly to find a leveller.
Los Azules will continue their preseason work at El Requexón tomorrow, as they focus on the next preseason fixture, which will see them face CD Lugo in Ribadeo on Saturday.
