Real Oviedo needed to win. These were three points to keep hope alive and to keep the team involved in the fight for survival.  The defeat in Lugo had led to a hard week, but the fans didn't let their team down and provided fantastic backing.  The crowd at the Tartiere carried the team on to a battling, hard-fought and agonising victory, with the winning goal coming just before the final whistle.
Real Oviedo made two enforced changes in the defence due to suspension, with Arribas and Mossa coming in, while Sangalli returned to the starting line-up on the right wing.  Today was Ziganda's first match in charge at the Tartiere, and Real Oviedo began the first half the brighter side.  As time went by, however, the match became more difficult.  Despite Tenerife never really threatening Lunin's goal and the Real Oviedo defence giving very little away, the team was lacking possession and attacking thrust.  A Saúl shot, an Ortuño header from a free kick, and a Tejera free kick were the best chances of the first half.
Ziganda's side pushed on more after the break, with the Tartiere crowd driving them on.  The fans were relentless in their backing during the second half and the team was more comfortable on the pitch.  The  Asturiansenjoyed more possession, better interplay, and were not threatened in defence.  Following some substitutions, they also created more danger. Borja Sánchez and Ibra came on in attack, and, although the team had to keep pushing, eventually they got their rewards.  A passage of play in the 85th minute was reviewed by VAR, and there was adjudged to have been a handball in the Tenerife box.  Rodrigo converted from the spot in the 88th minute to make the score 1-0.  The team defended with everything it had during the seven minutes of added time.  These three points give the team a boost, as they continue to work towards the next match in the fight for survival, away at Extremadura next weekend.
