Mossa: "The important thing is our reaction"

The Valencian believes that a draw would have been the fair result and calls for “respect” towards the fans that “have always been at the Club’s side”

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Real Oviedo full back José María Angresola Jiménez, ‘Mossa’, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón this morning.

Following yesterday’s match at El Molinón, the defender admitted that “we are annoyed about losing the three points and how it feels, especially for our fans. We would have liked the result to have been different.”

Regarding Ibra’s disallowed goal, the defender stated that “at first I thought it was a goal. The referee signalled a goal and then gave a foul. You’ve got to wonder what was going through his head. Beyond whether it was a foul or not, the referee did not give a foul at first. He gave a goal.”

With respect to the match, Mossa commented that “we knew that they were going to play directly, and that the match would be decided on small details. They build their play around their forwards and don’t need possession. We pushed more people up top and the scoreline made them drop back. We had chances and had them pinned in their area. I think that, given the chances, a draw would have been fair.”

When asked about the effect of the defeat on the squad, Mossa stated that “if we separate out the emotions, they’re just three points. After each derby, the important thing is our reaction. We have to think about Depor and getting those three points to keep moving forward. We prefer to play at home, but that does not guarantee anything. First Depor, and then whatever comes after that.”

Finally, speaking about the fans, the travel and the excessive securities measures, Mossa concluded by saying that he thinks that “it is ridiculous that they have to spend eight hours of their day there to see a match which is so close to home. We have to ask for respect for our fans and for everyone else. We aren’t animals or delinquents. They are just going to
watch football. We all heard what was happening, and it’s not pleasant to see such things happen. They are excessive images, and our fans deserve respect. Those 1,200 never stopped supporting us, and we are grateful for that. They have always been at the Club’s side, especially now.”
