Real Oviedo defender Mossa appeared in the Press Room this morning to respond to questions put to him by the media, and to analyse the team's current state going into the first league game of the season. Los Azules will play CD Lugo at the Carlos Tartiere this Sunday. "We are very excited because we haven't played at home in front of our fans for a long time. It will be their first game back after a very long time. We are excited about the new season, but especially about having our fans back by our side. We've really missed them. I'm happy that the fans can come back."
Discussing the team and society as a whole, the Valencian said that "we have all been through a very difficult time on a health level and now we are also seeing other issues which have arisen because of Covid. Even though it's not going to be complete normality, the fact that the fans can return to the ground now makes us all very happy. A lot of our teammates from last year said it; they left here without finding out what this club really is, because they didn't have the chance to enjoy playing in front of the fans. The fans are going to be able to be there now and help us."
On a footballing level, and having played against Lugo in preseason just a couple of weeks ago, Mossa reasoned that the friendly "won't have given much away. I imagine that there will be a lot of changes in personnel, and perhaps even changes in formation." Regarding the state of the transfer market approaching the start of the season, the defender highlighted that "we all get started at the same time. That's the way it is, and we have to go into it with what we have at the minute, and with excitement and the conviction of trying to win the match." In addition, Mossa declared "a lot of respect and, above all, confidence in what the sports management staff is doing. We know that they are giving it everything to make the best squad possible. It's good for this club."
Regarding what the Coach had asked of him before the Ponferradina friendly, in which he played in central midfield, the left back explained that "we talked about tactical matters, because it's clear that it was a lot different to normal. Different in terms of knowing when to drop back and when to press high, knowing how to act in that position, and also we've seen during preseason what the players in there have to do with the ball. On a personal level I see myself adding to the squad in whichever way I am asked to. If I'm asked to play, I will play. If I'm asked to encourage the team, I will encourage them. We need to push and push. We are all here to give the team what it needs when it needs us, in the best way we can. What's good for the group is good for all of us individually, is good for the club, and is good for everyone who forms part of Real Oviedo."
Asked what the team's target is, Mossa did not look beyond Sunday, giving it particular importance. "Our aim is to win. It would be nice to get off to a winning start. I know that it's been a lot of years since we last won the first league game of the season. There would be nothing better than celebrating being back at our ground with our fans and with a victory. We need to start with confidence and on the right foot."
