The coach of Real Oviedo, Luis Carrión, appeared this Thursday in the press room of El Requexón ahead of the match that will see the blues face RCD Mallorca this Friday at the Carlos Tartiere.

The Oviedo coach analyzed the team's current state, the mood in the locker room, and the keys to achieving a victory that would allow the Carbayón team to take a step forward in the standings.

Luis Carrión considers that the match against Mallorca could be important for the team's immediate future, although he rejects the term "final": "It's early, but I understand that after the series of matches we've had, a victory would be important. It would bring us closer to the positions where we want to be. We are ready and we have to give everything on the field. The Tartiere factor is key, it has to be an advantage. We haven't won at home yet, and we are going to give everything to try to get the three points. We must press well."

The blue coach acknowledged that the team needs to improve its accuracy in front of goal, one of the aspects he emphasizes most during the week: "It's always said: we have to be more effective if we want to get more points. At home, we've had plenty of chances, but we need to convert them. We work hard every day because we want to be that team that creates opportunities, and that has to be reflected in the results."

Carrión highlighted the importance of earning three points to gain confidence and turn good feelings into results: "We are at the bottom, but we are not out of it. Tomorrow has to be a turning point, although I don't think it's life or death. If we win, we will get closer to our rival in the standings and see everything differently. The gameplay has been good, but it hasn't translated into victories. Tomorrow has to be the day we go all out from the first minute."

The coach explained his vision of the style the team should follow to be competitive, stating that "simplifying the plan would mean playing more directly, but I don't think that's what this team needs. By having the ball, we can draw the opponent in and find spaces. Sometimes we overcomplicate things in the opponent's half, and we need to correct that. We have fast players and finishers, so we have more than one plan. I'll decide which is the best. I have faith in what we work on every day."

Real Oviedo is one of the teams that takes the most shots in the league, although Carrión points out the need to do so with greater advantage: "In the statistics, we are one of the teams that shoots the most, but perhaps with less advantage because we don't score. We have good shooters, and we need to find better spaces. There are things we do well, but we must keep improving."

The blue coach also spoke about the Balearic team, which he considers a demanding and experienced opponent, highlighting that "their Copa match was tough. Numancia created danger for them, but they know what they're doing. The other day they struggled against Osasuna, but they are a professional team with players who have played many matches in the top division. I think we can be better than them if we do things right."

Carrión valued the call-up of central defender David Carmo to the Angola national team for the Africa Cup, although he stated that he will be able to count on him against Sevilla: "I think FIFA has said they will gather after the match against Sevilla. I will try to field the best possible eleven, and I don't think defense is our weakest area, quite the opposite."

The coach trusts the group's attitude and their ability to maintain faith in daily work, understanding that "we must have confidence in what we do every day. We've played well enough to have won, but it hasn't happened. We must not get discouraged. We go all out since we left the Metropolitano."

The Catalan also assessed the performance of Fede Viñas, highlighting his commitment and capacity for improvement: "Fede is very good and does many things well. In that position, he performs very well, although he needs to improve in box situations. He wants Oviedo to do well, and that makes him very demanding of himself. There are players who take on a lot of responsibility, and that's positive." Likewise, the blue coach emphasized the need for all players to be ready to help the team: "I like everyone to be active, regardless of the game plan. It's essential that everyone is prepared. The important thing tomorrow is Real Oviedo, and that will be achieved by everyone."

Carrión concluded his appearance with a message of confidence and commitment: "We want people to see that we've given everything on the field. If we win, the team will take a step forward, and we can look to the future with more confidence."
