Coinciding with the day of Santa Bárbara, patron saint of miners, Real Oviedo presents today a special replica of one of the most innovative jerseys in its history, as it was the first time a Club launched a second kit in black tones. A garment that pays tribute to mining, a symbol of effort, sacrifice, and pride of our region, and reflects the Club's connection to its roots.
The new jersey will be available starting tomorrow, Friday, December 5, in official stores and online, priced at €59.95, in both adult and child sizes. It is a special and limited edition, available while supplies last.
Inspired by the kit from the 1996-97 season, designed at the time by the Asturian brand Joluvi, this reissue recaptures the spirit of that jersey launched in homage to Santa Bárbara. Its official debut took place on September 8, 1996, at the José Zorrilla stadium against Real Valladolid, in a match that ended with a 0-1 victory for the carbayones. That kit, bold for its time, became a cult piece among Oviedo fans over the years.
In 2025, Real Oviedo recreates that history, paying tribute to the bravery and courage of Asturian mining, a profession that is part of the identity and character of Asturias.
The reissue maintains the essence and original design, incorporating updated materials and finishes. It features a short, straight-finished Mao-style polo collar with a concealed snap button under the placket, adding a classic and elegant touch. Its straight and comfortable cut, along with high-quality technical fabric, ensures breathability and lightness. The embroidered crest on a heat-sealed patch faithfully replicates the style of the 1996 model, while the brand's logos and details, also embroidered, respect the original placement and design. The ensemble is completed with an intense black tone, identical to the historic jersey, accompanied by yellow details on the collar and sleeves, reinforcing its timeless and iconic character.
With this launch, Real Oviedo celebrates the memory of Santa Bárbara and highlights the mining legacy that has shaped the history, character, and sentiment of all Asturias. A jersey with soul, made for those who feel pride in their roots and the work of generations that shaped the identity of the Principality.
