Real Oviedo full back Lucas Ahijado today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Los Azules go into the new gameweek with a trip to Almería lying ahead of them, with the Andalusian side having just changed head coach. Regarding the opponent's managerial change, and whether it affects the weekly work for Ziganda's side, Lucas reasoned that "it has no impact at all. We are thinking about ourselves and about how we should play, nothing else."
Having started the last few matches at left back, the Oviedo-born defender declared that "I feel comfortable and delighted to be able to help the team. Matches and minutes help. I work hard for them, although there is still a lot of competition for places."
Asked about the team's lack of consistency at certain stages of the season, the Asturian reasoned that "football is about runs of form. The opponents you face has an impact, and we don't always have luck on our side. Matches are decided on small details and they don't always work in our favour."
Finally, regarding a possible contract renewal, Lucas highlighted that "I see myself spending many years here. It's my club and my city, but at the end of the day I can't think about that. We are only thinking about Almería and about going there to beat them."
