Real Oviedo full back Lucas Ahijado appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón following the return to training for Sergio Egea's side. Following the first training session of the day, the Asturian commented that, "spirits are high. We have started well and I think we can do great things. We have a great squad."

Regarding what it means to step up to the first team, Lucas admitted that "being here is something to be proud of. It's a dream. It's what the lads in the youth team wish for, and I am privileged. It's a great feat that 15 of the 25 players (starting preseason) played in the youth teams." Inaddition, the local lad highlighted that "being here means a lot of sacrifice is needed. I hope to be able to make the grade. I debuted quite a while ago, but I then worked hard and fought, and now I am here. There are no words to describe it."

Asked about the message from the other members of the squad to the lads moving up from the B team, Lucas said that "they've told us to relax and do as well as we can. They've welcomed us like we've known each other all our lives."

Finally, talking about competing with Diegui for a spot, the full back highlighted that, "we are teammates and friends, but we will fight to get in. The Coach will decide. For now, it's time to compete."
