The Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere this morning hosted the official presentation of Javi Fernández as a Real Oviedo player. The defender has been training under Sergio Egea since Monday.

The centre back from Murcia was accompanied by the club’s Technical Secretary, Miguel Pérez Cuesta, “Michu”, who welcomed him by saying “he’s a very young boy, who’s coming here to play centre back. We would like to welcome him to his new home, and we are here for him for whatever he needs.”

Javi Fernández wished to “thank Real Oviedo and Michu for the opportunity”, stating that “I’ve been with the squad for two days and I’m very happy. They’re treating me very well.”

Asked about his playing style, the centre back commented that “I don’t like to define myself. I’m more about hard work. The club knows me and knows how I play. I sacrifice myself for the team and will help my teammates so that everything goes as well as possible.”

Regarding what it means to sign up for the project at Real Oviedo, Javi admitted that “the club motivates me a lot. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the division. I’m happy to be here and I will give everything I’ve got for the badge.”

Finally, with respect to his first dealings with Sergio Egea, Javi concluded by saying that, “he welcomed me and told me to relax. He is looking for hard work from me.”
