Real Oviedo goalkeeper Leo Román appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today ahead of the first team's return to work.

Following Saturday's draw with Racing, in which he was forced to be at his best and produce three fine saves during one period of the match, the shot stopper reasoned that "there hadn't been another half this season where they had threatened us so much, but we didn't feel overwhelmed like we did in Valladolid. In key moments they made the most of gaps and managed to convert their chances. We put in a good performance." When asked which had been his best save, Leo Román argued that "the most difficult one was the header which caught me wrong-footed. It's true that I was helped by the pitch being dry in being able to get there."

Asked how the team prepares for afternoons like Saturday's, the goalkeeper highlighted that "it's true that defensively we are solid and we don't concede many. We take it day by day and are always focused on the match that is coming up."

With regards to his feelings on an individual level, Leo Román highlighted that "I am focused here, happy, and enjoying this year. I really needed it. I am gaining experience, I am very happy in Oviedo and growing. I think that I am improving as a goalkeeper, and feeling better and more confident. I try to make the most of every minute that I play and enjoy it. I wanted to be important and a challenge to prove that I was ready. I always work hard. The team is playing well and happy, and that is a boost in order to keep enjoying it,"

Regarding the remainder of the season, with eleven matches left to give the team the chance of moving into the promotion places, the keeper reasoned that "the most important thing is to be in that area of the table, stay close, and make sure that you are in those positions no matter what come the end of the season. I think that is what will happen. There won't be any easy matches from here until the end of the season, we will have to fight to the death at every ground. In Alcorcón we will have to play well, all of us have something at stake. Both teams have something at stake and you can feel it in the stadium."

Asked about the fact that Oier Luengo will not be available at Santo Domingo through suspension, Leo Román said that "at the end of the day whoever plays will do well. The team's performances are magnificent and whoever the Gaffer picks will do well."

Finally, discussing his improvement since the start of the season, he concluded that "the main thing for me is my consistency. For me that is the most important thing, being able to always contribute the same amount to the team. I am looking to keep going like this."
