Real Oviedo returned to the Carlos Tartiere this Saturday for their latest LaLiga SmartBank fixture. Los Azules went into the match full of confidence following the victory against UD Las Palmas, as they came up against CD Lugo in Matchday 36. Álvaro Cervera opted for a starting eleven made up of Braat, Lucas, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Borja Sánchez, Koba, Luismi, Viti, Hugo Rama and Sergi Enrich.

The Asturians went into today's match with the aim of providing the fans with a victory, and they showed their intentions right from the kick-off. The team emerged the stronger side right from the outset, and were relentless in their attempts to find a way through. In the 6th minute Enrich touched the ball for the first time and did not miss, heading home the opener from Lucas's fine cross.

The early goal did not change the game plan for Real Oviedo, and the team continued its attempts to extend the lead. In the 19th minute Enrich went close to adding his second following some fine link-up play between Borja Sánchez and Lucas, but his effort was kept out by the keeper.

Just when it looked like the second goal was inevitable, a controversial piece of play saw VAR award Lugo a penalty for a David Costas handball. Xavi Torres converted from the spot to make the score 1-1 in the 33rd minute. Los Azules remained on top following the setback, but the score was still the same at halftime.

Álvaro Cervera made a triple change in the 60th minute, bringing on Camarasa, Manu Vallejo and Moro in place of Borja Sánchez, Rama and Koba. The team regained control of the encounter, and the second goal would arrive just two minutes later. Another great cross from Lucas was met by Manu Vallejo, who placed a lovely first-time shot past the away keeper. Los Carbayones received another boost five minutes later, when Lugo player Gui was shown a straight red card for a hard challenge on Luismi.

The visitors barely threatened during the second half, and Real Oviedo knew how to protect the lead and secure another very important victory. This win moves the side up to twelfth place, on 46 points, and with an 11 point gap above the relegation zone, albeit with matches remaining this weekend.
