Real Oviedo striker Joselu Moreno appeared in the El Requexón Press Room today.
Asked about last weekend’s match in Zaragoza and its impact on the momentum built by the team over the last few weeks, the Huelva-born forward stated that the loss “does not get in the way, since we need to win three out of every four matches from here on in. It’s true that we had chances in Zaragoza and we went home frustrated. We played well defensively but we did not make the most of our opportunities. Little things went their way which changed the game, like the offside, but it’s time to think about Cádiz with a clean slate.”
Talking about the next match against Cádiz, Joselu noted that “we know that they are coming into it as one of the teams to have conceded the fewest goals. We have to feel comfortable and ready to go.”
Speaking about the team’s return to El Requexón, the Real Oviedo forward emphasised that “they have done a great job with the pitch, it’s soft but very good. We are used to this and training on artificial turf is different, but you get used to it."
Commenting on his contribution to the team and whether he has a goal target for the coming fixtures, Joselu affirmed that “the numbers are for me. I was hungry and want to continue to deliver by scoring goals and winning as many matches as possible.”
When asked about the recovery of Ibra and the competition that it brings to the team’s attack, the striker made it clear that “I want everyone to be fit because it raises our competitive level. The more of us available, the better for the Coach. Ibra coming back means more competition and help. We can now use another strategy, and make it harder for the Coach. It’s good for him to have several options.” Moreover, commenting on Saúl Berjón’s return to training this week, Joselu considers him “one of the key men. He’s very important for the team and one of the best in the division. We want him back because he will contribute a lot.”
Finally, talking about the Boateng’s loan, the striker concluded that “it is a shame, but we wish him all the luck in the world.”
