Real Oviedo Vetusta today visited Sarriena to face Leioa, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.

‘Los Azules’ made three changes to their starting eleven going into the latest league fixture, with a clear determination to pick up the win and continue their fight for a playoff place. Working from this premise, the B team combined well in the early stages in Sarriena and two clear chances fell to Javi Mier and Rober. As the first half progressed, Vetusta looked to find their attackers and make the most of their wingers’ versatility. One of these passages of play led to Ernesto meeting a cross to fire home the opener from inside the six-yard box. The Blues controlled the ball and went in search of a second, but couldn’t quite find the final ball. Halftime arrived with the score 0-1.

Real Oviedo Vetusta emerged for the second half more strongly than their opponent, and Ernest soon struck again to double the lead. The Andalusian found the back of the net once more, with a goal which was virtually identical to the first. Having seen a yellow card during the first half, Andoni Ugarte was sent off during the second half for a second yellow. Leioa then cut the deficit from the penalty spot. The hosts made the score 2-2 in the final minutes from what was a clear offside. Vetusta never gave up in their search for the three points.

This draw moved Real Oviedo Vetusta onto 43 points. They face Gernika at El Requexón next time out.
