The Press Room at El Requexón hosted today the award presentation for May’s ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month to Jimmy. A key player in ‘Los Azules’ midfield, he’s brought balance and game vision to the team. The ‘Carbayón’ midfielder was selected by Real Oviedo fans, who chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitte profile @futbolmahou. In addition, the Asturian midfielder also collected the “Jugador Cinco Estrellas” Player of the Season, having been the player to receive most awards and votes over the course of the season.

After receiving the awards, the Oviedo-born player met with the media gathered in the Press Room.

Jimmy began by assessing last night’s match against Rayo Majadahonda, saying that “it was a great match, especially because we won. We were able to give everything and endure until the end. It is true that you end up playing by instinct, but it went well, and we got the goal. Building on a base of pride and desire, we turned the game around.” In addition, regarding Rayo, the midfielder believes that “they are going through a difficult time. Matches where you have a lot on the line are complicated. They are a great side and will be back (in the Second Division) soon.”

When asked about the chances of still reaching the playoffs, Jimmy pointed out that “it is very difficult, but we are going to fight until the end. We knew that we could not fail. We are all professionals and we have to give
everything, and I hope they give it their all too. When the score was 1-3 everything seemed lost and very negative, but with the comeback, the excitement returned. There is still an opportunity and we have to cling on to it.”

Regarding Saturday's match at El Sadar, the ‘Carbayón’ midfielder said that “they keep pushing, but they won’t beat us based on desire. We will go for the win and hope other results go our way.”

Finally, speaking about his feelings on a personal level, Jimmy emphasised that “it was a tough start to the season, but now I am very happy. There are teammates who deserve these awards more than me. It's incredible, but hard work pays off and dreams come true,” concluded the Asturian.
