Real Oviedo arrived at El Sadar with an obligation to win and pray for the huge stroke of luck which would enable them to sneak into a playoff place. They were unable to keep up their side of the bargain, while Dépor finished their own job off to end the season in sixth position.
The Coach opted for two tactical tweaks to the starting eleven, along with other changes enforced through injury and suspension. Real Oviedo were on top during the first half. Saúl Berjón's free kick was just denied by the home keeper in the best chance of the first period. Egea's side didn't come under too much pressure defensively, although Osasuna did begin to push just before halftime.
Arrasate's side increased their threat in the second half and the Asturians were forced to work hard in defence. Xisco managed to notch the winning goal in the 70th minute. Real Oviedo continued to try, with efforts from both Saúl and Ibra, but they couldn't find a way through.
This defeat brought the season to a close, leaving Real Oviedo in 8th position.
