Real Oviedo midfielder Javi Mier appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today, as the first team went back to work.
Having got three points last time out against CD Mirandés, the local lad today discussed the current feeling within the squad. "We are very happy, but we know that we haven't done anything yet. We are only thinking about preparing for the week well and going into the match in the best possible way to win."
With four matches of the regular league season remaining this campaign, the team from the capital of Asturias finds itself in a playoff position, and with the objective dependent only on its own results. Regarding this matter and the team's chances of finishing in a playoff place, Javi Mier reasoned that "we have to go for seventy points. We have to come through the matches, but the only thing that matters is our work. We have two home matches left. The fans will push us on and give us a boost, but we have to take it one game at a time. We have to go to La Rosaleda and win."
Asked about the upcoming match in Málaga, the Asturian stated that "it's going to be a difficult away match, they're going to make things tough for us. People say that La Rosaleda hasn't been a good ground for us, but neither had Alcorcón's and we won there."
Regarding the team's good form during this later part of the season, the midfielder stated that "everybody is in good form right now and it's a very high level. It's a pleasure to train with these teammates each day."
Finally, asked about the B team's promotion to the 2ª RFEF Division, Javi Mier said that "I was able to watch the match. I felt proud seeing the young boys achieve the promotion. It was important. Hopefully they can keep developing their games and growing."
