Santa Eulalia today played host to the first match of the season for Javi Rozada’s side, who were beaten 4-3 by Peña Deportiva.
The Carbayón B team began the new season with a trip to Ibiza, where they faced one of the teams newly-promoted to the third tier of Spanish football. Real Oviedo Vetusta took to the field with a team full of experience in the division and featuring several new signings, but swiftly found themselves two goals behind. The hosts made the most of their two opportunities to find the back of Jaume Valens’ net. Despite these setbacks, Vetusta sought to create danger through possession and began to take control of the encounter. Ugarte cut the deficit on the brink of halftime, but Peña restored their two-goal cushion from the following passage of play, just before the referee blew for the break. The sides went in for the interval with the score 3-1. Rober Alarcón added a second for Los Azules in the second half. Rozada brought on Rober Sierra and Tjay de Barr, as the Asturians looked to complete the comeback. However, the hosts again found a way through, making the score 4-2. In the final stages, Real Oviedo Vetusta needed more fluency in the centre of the park and Javi Rozada replaced Javi Cueto with Marcelo. Javi Mier added a third consolation goal for Los Azules.
Real Oviedo Vetusta will have another chance to win three points next weekend. They face UP Langreo at 12:00 on Sunday at El Requexón.
