On a day like today, September 15, in the year 1946, Isidro Lángara played a match again with Real Oviedo, ten years after the player, due to the start of the Spanish Civil War, crossed the Atlantic heading to America, where he showcased the talent he had already demonstrated in Europe.

His return to play for Real Oviedo had caused enormous excitement, mainly in Asturias but also throughout Spanish football, which remembered him for being the top scorer three consecutive times in the First Division just before the war.

He had triumphed in America, scoring goals everywhere. In Argentina, he was the top scorer in the first division, just as he later was in Mexico on two occasions.

His return to Oviedo on August 20, 1946, had caused a tumultuous crowd to gather in the streets of the capital of Asturias to welcome their idol, whom they had not forgotten and continued to admire.

A few weeks later, on September 15, Oviedo fans were able to see Lángara in action at home, in a friendly match between Real Oviedo and Racing de Santander at the Buenavista Stadium.

Despite the widespread admiration, there were also some small doubts, in the form of concern, about the performance Lángara could deliver, as he had left Real Oviedo at the age of twenty-four and was returning ten years older.

The Asturian team defeated the Cantabrian team 6-1, and to the relief and satisfaction of Oviedo fans, Lángara scored four goals. The phenomenon was back, and with him, the goals.
