Real Oviedo has reached an agreement to sign centre back Simone Grippo on a free transfer. The defender has signed a deal until June 2020, with the option to renew for another two seasons depending on the completion of objectives.
Simone Grippo is 31 years old and arrives having terminated his Real Zaragoza contract. The centre back, who has joint Swiss-Italian nationality, spent time in both countries during his footballing career, before arriving in Spanish football in the summer of 2017, when he joined Real Zaragoza. He began his career with FC Basel in the Swiss SuperLeague before moving to the Italian Serie B, where he spent five seasons. Grippo has played a total of 12 matches in LaLiga SmartBank during the 2019/20 season, as well as four more in the Copa del Rey, including playing against Real Madrid on Wednesday at La Romareda. He has now joined Real Oviedo on a deal until the end of the season, with a contract which will automatically renew upon the completion of objectives.

Having passed a medical at Clínica Asturias, Simone Grippo will join first-team training on Monday. The official presentation of Grippo as a new Real Oviedo player will be announced in the coming hours.
The player will not make any statements until the time of his official presentation.
