The NMR Carlos Tartiere hosted Real Oviedo's third preseason match this lunchtime, in what was the second home friendly of the summer. Los Azules faced Athletic Club today, with Edgar, Mujica and Cedric making their debuts for the club.
The Coach opted for Femenías, Grippo, Arribas, Edgar, Rodrigo, Juanjo Nieto, Obeng, Viti, Borja, Tejera and Mossa as his starting eleven against the side from Bilbao. Los Azules, in much the same way as in the previous two friendlies, made a very good impression, both in attack and in defence. They pressed high up the pitch and fought for every ball right up until the final whistle. Some fine wing play from Viti saw him put a cross into the box, which one of the away defenders turned into his own net, giving Real Oviedo the lead. However, Garitano's side equalised just a few minutes later, and the two teams went in for halftime with the score 1-1.
During the break, Ziganda brought on Mujica and Jimmy, who brought freshness and dynamism to the team. Athletic took the lead in the second half, but the Asturians did not let their heads drop and continued to press forwards, with good combination play and creating danger in attack. A fine Mossa cross allowed Obeng to get in front of the defender and level the scores once more. Bolaño, Cedric, Edu Cortina and Ripoll also got game time, as Real Oviedo continued to look to put moves together and try to find a way through to find the winner.
There is no break for Ziganda's squad, who travel to El Toralín tomorrow to play the fourth and final preseason match against Ponferradina. The fixture will kick off at 19:30.
