Real Oviedo gained a point against CD Mirandés from one of their most complete performances so far this season.  Both sides showed signs of fatigue after their efforts in the cup this week, but despite Real Oviedo's superiority during the match, they failed to grab the goal to reward their domination.

Real Oviedo had chances to win the match right from the very start of the match.  In the first half alone Susaeta, Toché and Pereira all had opportunities to open the scoring.  First Susaeta fired over the top of the bar, then Toché headed wide from a precise Susaeta cross, and finally Pereira had a, albeit very difficult, chance from a rebound, but hit the side netting.  Toché was next to come close from Varela's cross, with an effort which grazed the post.  Mirandés never troubled Juan Carlos' goal, but Real Oviedo went in at the break without reward.

In the second half the Asturian side never threw in the towel in their search of a goal, but were ultimately without luck.  Jon Erice put a perfect cross into the box which Sergio Pérez cleared just before Toché could apply the finishing touch.  The forward from Murcia then tried his luck from the edge of the box from Nando's pass, but this time fired over the bar.  Fernando Hierro then made his first change, introducing Michu in place of Pereira.  The academy product came on to add height alongside Toché up front, as Real Oviedo changed tactics to putting balls into the area, but still failed the break the deadlock.  The first shot from Michu was struck low and grazed the left hand post of Sergio Perez's goal, after fine interplay with Toché.  His next chance was a header, which Toché was also waiting for at the back post, but which Michu failed to quite apply the necessary finish to.  Real Oviedo kept going until the final whistle, while maintaining defensive solidity, but without managing to get their reward going forward, despite their many attacks on the Mirandés goal.

The team are now three league matches unbeaten following last week's draw in Mallorca, and visit Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium next weekend.
