First Team Coaching Staff for the 2017/2018 Season

Juanjo Carretero, Marcos Marcén, Sergio Segura and Daniel Mayo will form the coaching team to work alongside Juan Antonio Anquela

After the announcement of Juan Antonio Anquela as the new Head Coach, Real Oviedo have made further progress in their preparation for the new season.

The make-up of the first team coaching staff for the 2017/2018 season will
be as follows:

Head Coach: Juan Antonio Anquela
Assistant Head Coach: Juan José Carretero
Fitness Coach: Marcos Marcén
Goalkeeper Coach: Sergio Segura
Analytical Assistant: Daniel Mayo

Juan José Carretero boasts vast experience in the professional game. The Madrid-born coach worked alongside Juan Antonio Anquela at the start of his career, before becoming his assistant during their last spell at SD Huesca. He began his career at the Madrid Football Federation, where he achieved four national championships as well as finishing runner-up in
European competition. Carretero then moved on to Fuenlabrada CF in the Segunda División B. Over the course of his career as an assistant manager he has worked alongside Quique Hernández (achieving promotion to the First Division with CD Numancia), Francisco, Máximo Hernández, Enrique Martín and Andoni Goikoetxea. It was with Goikoetxea that he left CD Numancia to move on to Hércules de Alicante, Ceuta, and lastly the national team of Equatorial Guinea. He then spent a second spell with Máximo Hernández, at Albacete, before managing Atlético Madrid’s female side. Before joining Juan Antonio Anquela at SD Huesca, Carretero also tried his luck in Chinese football.

Marcos Marcén joins Los Carbayones as Fitness Coach. He graduated in Physical Activity and Sport, before gaining a Master’s degree in Physical Preparation in Football. Following a spell as a sports therapist at SD Huesca, he joined Anquela’s first team coaching staff, taking up the role of Fitness Coach.

Sergio Segura is the current Goalkeeper Coach at Real Oviedo, and will remain in his role with the first team for a further season, as well as coordinating the goalkeepers in the academy. The 2017/2018 season will be his fourth at the club.

Dani Mayo, born in Argentina but with Spanish nationality, will be the Technical Analysist and Assistant. After beginning his playing career in the Argentine First Division, he moved over to Spain to play in the First Division for CD Numancia. During his coaching career, he has worked as assistant to Fabri at SD Ponferradina (Second Division) and alongside Rafa
Berges at UD Logroñés. He began his coaching career working within youth football in the Valencia region. Dani Mayo arrives at Real Oviedo as the Analytical Assistant to Juan Antonio Anquela.

Juan Antonio Anquela and his team will begin preseason training on Monday 10th July at El Requexón training ground.
