Real Oviedo goalkeeper Joan Femenías today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Upon the team's return to training, the shot stopper analysed what Monday's win over Lugo meant to the group, saying that "it was an important victory. We had to win. This week we have more hope, hunger and are putting in a lot of work. You see everything differently after a victory." In addition, regarding the team's reaction after going a goal behind against Lugo, Femenías admitted that "it was an important match for the team. We needed to win, we had been on a bad run. After Cartagena and the goals we let in that day we had to step up, and you could see we did that on the pitch."
Regarding the confidence that his ball-handling in the last game gives him, the keeper stated that "we talk to the coaching staff every week about the things we need to improve on, so we are aware of it. The best thing is to see it (the ball), go for it, and improve so as to help the team."
Asked about the competition for the spot in goal, Femenías highlighted that "it is good and healthy with Gabri. I focus on working, helping the team, and improving our league position."
Ahead of the Fuenlabrada match, the keeper commented that "we know that we will come up against a tough Fuenlabrada side at their own ground, with clear ideas, but ours are even clearer. We know what we have to do and only winning will do."
Finally, today marks one year since the arrival of Ziganda as Real Oviedo Head Coach. Femenías admitted that "what was achieved last year is important. I saw it from the outside, and they put together playoff numbers while towards the bottom of the table. Now I see his philosophy, his way of doing things, and we all believe in it. He's important for the club and for a city like Oviedo."
