Real Oviedo goalkeeper Joan Femenías appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón at the start of a new week.
Following Sunday's draw at Butarque, the goalkeeper explained that "the result, considering how the match went, was the best thing about it. It was one of our worst performances, but we have to take the positives and turn it into a good point (by winning) at home. We knew how to approach the match, but they attacked us down the wing and we were unable to put together the passes to build counter attacks and create danger. We know that we can do it, we saw it in Eibar and against Las Palmas. We have to look at the positives, work hard and keep going."
Asked whether the Leganés match was his best performance so far this season on a personal level, Joan admitted that "there are things to improve on in every match. The goalkeeper position is a special one, and you get singled out a lot for any mistake. I'm clear on the path I need to follow, by being demanding and getting the best out of myself. I need to fight every day to meet my objectives. Every time I go out I try to enjoy it and perform at my best. We kept a clean sheet yesterday and we need to build on that, because it's the path to follow. Football creates opinions, but I am just grateful to be here. I am focused on the daily work, I leave everything else to one side."
With respect to what he expects to see from Real Oviedo going into the coming matches, the shot stopper believes that "if we play like we did in Eibar we will have a better chance of winning, but if we play like we did yesterday then it will be more difficult for us. We know the path we need to follow; sticking together and being united. The victories and points we need are going to arrive, we are sure of it."
Finally, ahead of Saturday's fixture against Amorebieta, Joan Femenías highlighted that "it's crucial for us. We have to be capable of transmitting passion to the fans, creating a link of unity, and make the Tartiere a ground where teams find it difficult to get a result."
