Real Oviedo suffered a painful 1-2 defeat against Athletic Club at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium, in a match that the blues approached as a true final and ended with a bitter taste after a comeback by the visitors in the second half.

The Oviedo team started the match with intensity, driven by their fans and aware of the importance of securing the three points. From the first minutes, they showed ambition, and that persistence paid off before halftime when Ilyas Chaira finished a good offensive play to put Oviedo ahead and ignite excitement in the Oviedo stadium.

With the lead on the scoreboard, the locals went into the break feeling they had the game where they wanted it. However, after the restart, Athletic stepped up, and Real Oviedo sank further on the field.

The tie was broken midway through the second half when Jaureguizar scored a stunning goal from outside the box, a blow that changed the dynamics of the match. The visiting team gained confidence and went in search of the second goal, while the blues tried to hold on and regain control of the game.

The decisive moment came in the 71st minute. A penalty awarded in favor of Athletic allowed Sancet to complete the comeback from the penalty spot, leaving Oviedo without a response as they could no longer find the strength or time to react.

The final whistle confirmed a tough blow for the Carbayones, who approached this match as another final in their fight to move closer to safety and, despite taking the lead, were left empty-handed. The team must quickly recover and focus on the next match, aware that every game is crucial.
