Real Oviedo came up against an in-form CD Mirandés this afternoon at the Carlos Tartiere. Álvaro Cervera's side lined up with a starting eleven made up of Braat, Costas, Dani Calvo, Lucas, Abel Bretones, Jimmy, Luismi, Hugo Rama, Marcelo, Borja Bastón and Sergi Enrich.

Intensity is a non-negotiable for this team and one of the coach's key beliefs, and it was clear to see during the opening 45 minutes. A fine move down the left wing in the 21st minute would end in a powerful low Lucas strike being tipped around the post by Alfonso Herrero. Hugo Rama swung the ball in from the resulting corner and it was met by David Costas, before Borja Bastón diverted the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

The team's plan moved on in the best possible way, and the score would remain 1-0 at halftime. Things continued in a similar fashion after the interval, with Real Oviedo perfectly positioned to try to capitalise on opportunities on the counter attack to seal the win. Borja Bastón went close with a header in the 75th minute and then from a one-on-one in the 78th minute, after being played through by Obeng. The full time whistle saw all of the contained joy released by those in the stands.

Real Oviedo could have won by more, but picked up a deserved three points today at the Carlos Tartiere. The team will be back in training on Monday at El Requexón.
