The Heliodoro Rodríguez López provided the backdrop for Matchday 18 in LaLiga SmartBank for Real Oviedo today, with Asturians picking up a 1-0 away win against CD Tenerife.

Álvaro Cervera returned to his former club in Tenerife today, and opted for a starting eleven made up of Braat; Lucas, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Pomares; Sesé, Luismi, Jimmy, Hugo Rama; Obeng and Borja Bastón, with the main talking point being Sesé's first-team debut.

The hosts emerged strongly for the first half and played at a high intensity. Los Azules were organised in defence, however, and managed to deal with the home team's attacks, albeit without being able to threaten themselves. The final part of the opening forty-five minutes was more even, with Cervera's team beginning to get forward slightly more.

Abel Bretones came on for debutant Sesé during the halftime interval as Real Oviedo took a step up in the second half and managed to start to win the ball back more. A corner saw David Costas meet the ball at the back post and open the scoring. Cervera did not settle for the 1-0 lead and brought on Sergi Enrich and Borja Sánchez. However, Tenerife inevitably regained possession of the ball and control of the play. Los Azules tried to threaten on the counter attack, breaking into space in an attempt to extend their lead. Real Oviedo worked hard in defence and managed to deny Tenerife's attacks. Mangel and Miguelón came on in the final substitutions, with Los Azules ending the match with a 1-0 win.

Real Oviedo added three points to the tally today, and will attempt to extend their good form on Tuesday against Las Palmas at the Carlos Tartiere.
