David Rocha: " The Coach Wants The Team To Be Active, Intense, And Valiant"

The Real Oviedo midfielder values the hard work put forth in the first days of the preseason and insists on the necessity to "form a team"

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Real Oviedo midfielder David Rocha came to the press room this morning assessing the overall feeling after the first days of the preseason. "The beginning is hard. We have a lot of training sessions and they're very intense. It's critical to start off in good shape, to be ready for the battle. The coach wants the team to be active, intense, and valiant".

Concerning what is being worked on in these early days, Rocha explained that "(Anquela) is doing general work, group work. As the days go on, he will talk to the players to let us know what he wants from us". Since the beginning, the players and the coach alike have been putting group values above personal values. "Everyone wants to play the best, but the most important thing is to be at the top, fighting for high rankings and ensuring that we aren't plagued by the inconsistency that we've had in past years".

The centermidfielder wants to start the campaign with consistency and without injury, "helping the team if the coach deems it opportune, having a bit more regularity than the past year".

Regarding Ramón Folch, the only addition at the moment that has come to strengthen the midfield, Rocha commented that "I know him from the derbies in Tarragona. This past year he has had a great season, and for that reason he was signed by a great club".

Conscious of the fact that "reinforcements have to come in, we're 13 or 14 players plus those from the affiliate team, and we hope that this year they can come up to help us". Rocha continued, "we will welcome them and we will help them".

When asked about the transfer market, the holding midfielder understands that "those who have come down from the Primera have an economic advantage that we can't compete with. They sign the biggest names, but that is not a synonym of success. All that's left for us to do is to work and be a compact team".
