Real Oviedo centre back David Costas today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Just as Viti had done yesterday, the defender began his press conference by focusing on the aspects of the game which had prevented Real Oviedo from getting three points from the first game of the season against CD Lugo. "We lacked a bit of know-how, a bit of craftiness, in order to make the game more difficult for Lugo. We needed to adapt. There are new players and we hadn't played together. We played well, but we have to be cleverer in those final minutes."
The game against Lugo saw David Costas pull on the Real Oviedo shirt for the first time in a competitive match since his return to the club. The Galician said that "whenever I came to Oviedo I felt happy. I was very comfortable in my previous spell here. The fans have shown me love. I am proud to play at the Tartiere and grateful to the fans."
Regarding his partnership with Dani Calvo in the heart of the defence, Costas said that "I felt very comfortable. He's a good player and has experience in the division. I hope we can play together again, but the Coach will decide. It's true that we played well for a large part of the game, but then conceded two goals at the end and ended up looking stupid. The team played at a very good level, but we were annoyed to only get a point. We have to focus on the next game and try to solve the problems."
Asked about the captains for the 2021/22 season, David Costas explained that "we voted before the season started. The captains are Arribas, Mossa, Grippo, and Jimmy. If any of them go off, then whoever has been at the club longest will wear the armband."
Finally, ahead of Friday's fixture in Almería, the defender commented that "they have a good team and good players. I saw their game yesterday and the front three has good players. They have a complete, solid squad, and it will be a difficult match. We are going to Almería to win. To compete, to battle, and to win the match."
