Real Oviedo defender David Costas appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón this Wednesday following the team's return to training, in a week marked by the international break and the first victory of the campaign.

The three points earnt against Real Sociedad have boosted the squad's confidence and are a starting point to build from, but the centre back is not satisfied just with that, saying "we have to go for another one two weeks from now."

He continued by stating that "getting points in Primera is difficult. We have the first win now and there is something to build on, which we can identify with in terms of play and mentality. (The team) is going to compete in every match and every ground. I am sure that we are going to stay up."

The defender, who has started the last two matches, reasoned that "this is Primera and here the standards go up in every line of the team. I have to do my job, give it 100%, and then the Gaffer will decide." The club has strengthened at centre back, bringing in Eric Bailly and David Carmo, and Costas said that "they boost the quality at the club. The level had to go up because we have gone up to Primera División. This means that all of us have to raise our standards, and that is also good for the club."

In what is an unusual week, with the international break and the lack of league action, Costas declared himself "happy", given that "having international breaks means that we are in Primera, and I hope that that remains the case for many years."
