Matchday 17 in Group II of the 3ª RFEF Division saw Real Oviedo Vetusta travel to San José to face CD Llanes this Wednesday lunchtime. The match was marked by cold temperatures and heavy rain, and saw Los Azules get back to winning ways.
Vetusta started the match with a line-up made up of Berto Hórreo; Pablo, Javi Moreno, Lucas Laso, Victor Matovu; Yayo, Mangel, René Pérez; Chus, Pedregal and Javi Cueto. The side proved capable of adapting to a pitch which had been affected by the weather conditions.
Real Oviedo Vetusta were on top in the first half and were able to turn the dominance into goals. Chus gave the side the lead in thirteenth minute, before Javi Cueto doubled the advantage in the 27th minute. Los Azules put in a fine performance defensively, barely allowing the hosts any chances.
The match was closer after the break, becoming hard-fought and seeing both defences forced into action to deal with the opposition's attacks. Jaime Álvarez turned to his bench and brought on Eloy Ordóñez, before later introducing Osky, Isaac and Alex Cardero, and finally Merayo. Alex Cardero would make the score 3-0 in the final passage of play.
This was an important victory for the side from the capital of Asturias, who picked up three points against one of their nearest challengers in the table. The B team will take the confidence from the victory into next Sunday's clash with Sporting B.
