Champagne: “We are switched on”

The keeper highlighted the team’s desire to fight for the club’s target, ahead of the trip to a “first-division club and stadium”

Goalkeeper Nereo Champagne today visited the Press Room at the end of training and analysed the current state of the team. “We are doing great. We have a lot of hunger to show our commitment in each training session and in every game. The team will compete. We are switched on and eager to achieve our goal of reaching the playoffs.”

When asked about the change in coach, the Argentine pointed out that, “throughout the year the team has always competed, and thanks to that we still have a chance at this stage. The change in formation may have caused us to be a little more aware, but what we are asked to do is to defend the goal and to provide confidence.” In addition, “Egea’s self-belief spreads to the team. There are no better or worse coaches; each one teaches their own message in their own way.”

Regarding the trip to La Rosaleda, the keeper said that “all the matches are difficult, but we are not inferior to anyone. We will face a first-division standard team at a first-division standard stadium. It will be one of those beautiful nights of football, and one that anyone dreams of playing in.”

With respect to the pressure on both teams, Champagne commented that “lately, the results have been going the way of away teams more than home teams. It is sometimes difficult to play at home in this final stretch of the season. We must take advantage of their nervousness if the game doesn’t turn out the way they want it to. We will have to manage both halves so that they work in our favour.”
